Well, it’s out the door. Peter, Nick and I just launched our new app and service for the Mac, Cloak.

In the past two years, I’ve spent a lot of time working at coffee shops with open wireless networks. Aware of the security risks, I always tried to keep myself safe. I’m a programmer, so it’s not too hard for me to get a shell account somewhere and create a tunnel from the command-line with ssh… not that much harder still to set up an OpenVPN server and configure my laptop to connect to it.

But what I did to protect myself never felt elegant, and looking around I could see there were many freelancers, road warriors, and business people with the same problem as I but without the means to address it!

That’s what led to Cloak. It’s our stab at a truly end-to-end, one-click VPN service. No configuration necessary.

So check out our blog post and let me know what you think!
