At 2AM last night the Leonid meteor shower peaked for viewers in the north american continent. Luckily we had a car and some time on our hands, so we took a quick trip up north to Mt. Tam. The skies were somewhat darker and the meteors were indeed out in force; we saw about three enormous fireballs during the evening, and scads of smaller but still fascinating events.

What really tickled me was how long it took us to get to the top of Mt. Tam, which is reachable on a generally deserted road. Only in northern California would there be a traffic jam (a big one!) for a star party!
