Fiji Redux
Fiji Redux. Check out some photos from our recent south pacific expedition… some day soon I’ll finish stitching panoramas and will post them.
Despite its remote location, Fiji has a fascinating cultural history. A particularly difficult issue fascing Fiji today is the land rights of the Indo-Fijian population. Brought to Fiji as indentured servants during the 19th century, Indians became a dominant cultural force on the islands. After servitude was banned in the early 1900s, Indian families were granted century- long leases on native Fijian land. Four generations later, the leases are up and many Indians are finding themselves without rights to the land they’ve always known as home.
