Adobe Entering the Audio Market?

Three months after the asset acquisition of Syntrillium Software, makers of the Cool Edit audio editing suite, Adobe has announced its first A/V product, Adobe Audition.

What’s strange is that Cool Edit was (to my knowledge) never considered a “professional” audio editing package; it was significantly outclassed by the offerings of Steinberg and Sonic Foundry, among others. Audition appears to be a quick repackaging of Cool Edit with some new video features thrown in for good measure.
